Chai Latte (dairy-free and paleo)

If you love chai lattes, check out this alternative to the traditional options at coffee shops and stores. This drink is great for the holiday season and it supports the body in several ways.

One of the main ingredients, cinnamon, is an "antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, anticancer, and lipid-lowering" (1). The spices in chai are also a great support for the digestive system (2).

Ingredients

  • 12-16 oz. boiling water

  • 1.5 tsp loose leaf chai tea mix or 2 chai tea bags (tea and spices only, no extra ingredients like sugar or dairy)

  • 2 tbsp coconut cream

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp collagen powder

  • Optional: a dash of pumpkin spice or cinnamon

Directions

  1. Steep the tea in a french press or thermos (to keep it hot) for 5-8 minutes.

  2. Strain the tea and blend with all the ingredients.

  3. Add a dash of spices on top.
